John Shehane lives in Arlington, Texas with his wife and son. He was born in Tours, France, and raised in various parts of France and the French West Indies on the islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, concentration in painting. He is adept at oil painting, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, charcoal, graphite, ink, encaustic, dry pigment, clay, sculpture, glassblowing, and kiln form glass. In addition, he completed coursework in architectural design and drafting, architectural rendering and perspective drawing, and computer graphics. While in school, he was a distinguished honor roll recipient and was awarded an honorable mention in the Ken Roberts Delineation Competition.

John has been exhibited in the Ken Roberts Museum, Fort Worth Community Arts Center (formerly the Modern Art Museum) on various occasions, and while in school, at the University of Texas at Arlington Fine Arts Gallery.

He is currently running his own custom paint/mural design business creating high end murals, faux finishes, and theme/kid rooms. He actively paints modern abstract fine art, mostly consisting of oil and acrylic mediums, and also accepts commissions of portraits and other special interest paintings.
